We
hope this website will give you a glimpse of our church community. As a
married couple in ministry we share the role at St Mary’s Church in
South Perth.
JOHN was
ordained as a deacon and priest in 1985 in the Diocese of Bunbury, and
has ministered at St John’s Church, Albany, St Paul’s Church,
Bridgetown (with St Barnabas’ Church, Greenbushes and All Saints
Church, Nannup), St Elizabeth’s Church, Carey Park (with the Old Picton
Church of St Mark’s - both in Bunbury).
SUE was
ordained a deacon in 1989 and as a priest in 1993 in the Diocese of
Bunbury, and has ministered at St Elizabeth’s Church, Carey Park (with
the Old Picton Church of St Mark’s and All Saints Church, Collie) and
as locum and relief minister in a number of parishes in the Bunbury
Diocese.
In
1998 John and Sue moved into the Diocese of Perth and began a shared
ministry at St Hilda’s Church, North Perth. Sue also served as
part-time Anglican chaplain at the Mt Lawley campus of Edith Cowan
University.
In October 2004 we began our ministry at St Mary’s Church South Perth.
We
seek to focus our ministry on the building of community. To that end we
place a strong emphasis on pastoral ministry including ministry to
children and families and ministry to seniors. We see outreach as very
important and are committed to providing as many ways as possible for
people to become part of our church community.
We hope that, through our website, you may find our parish community to be accessible to you regardless of whether or not you are familiar with the culture and practice of the church. We can assure you of a warm welcome at St Mary’s should you choose to visit us.
